Meta Announce ‘Personal Boundary’ Feature for VR Avatars

“Personal Boundary prevents avatars from coming within a set distance of each other, creating more personal space for people and making it easier to avoid unwanted interactions”

Previously, a player’s hands would become invisible if they got too close to another user – with this new addition, the whole avatar will be restricted to 4 feet away. The feature aims to reduce the harassment and unpleasant behaviour taking place in the metaverse. Currently, users do not have the power to disable this feature, however future updates may allow the customisation of the size of the radius.

‘Personal bubbles’ are a standard option in many other VR social spaces, and others even have options to ‘push’ another user away.
